Lisa Valencia is a Partner with Shea Law, PLLC. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science-Psychology and Law, minoring in Spanish, with High Honors. She remained in East Lansing, Michigan after her undergraduate studies, attending Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and graduated in 2002 with a Juris Doctor.
During law school, Lisa worked for a consumer debt collection law firm and an employment law firm, where she later accepted a position as an Associate Attorney. She joined Shea Law, PLLC in 2004 as an Associate Attorney, working directly with financial advisors as part of a comprehensive and holistic approach to Estate Planning. Lisa completed the Institute of Continuing Legal Education Probate & Estate Planning Certificate Program in 2005.
In 2013, her family moved to Nanjing, China on an international work assignment. While in China, she was an active school volunteer and also assisted with regular fundraising events for local charities. Lisa’s family repatriated in 2019 and she returned to Shea Law, PLLC in early 2021. She is currently head of the Compliance Department for the firm and specializes in Estate Planning. These roles are a perfect fit for Lisa, as she loves research and writing; and she also comes from a family of teachers. She thoroughly enjoys teaching estate planning concepts, as well as serving in a counseling capacity. Lisa has educated and counseled thousands of clients on their Estate Planning options over the course of her career.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, traveling, reading and cooking.
